Beliefs, they are an extraordinarily powerful facet of who we tend to are. I suppose it's one amongst the foremost basic variations between us and the animal kingdom. There's no doubt that beliefs have a HUGE part to play in who we are, what we have a tendency to do and what we tend to will achieve as people and/or a collective. Henry Ford stated it so succinctly when he said; "whether you think you'll be able to or you can't, either method you are right". Most of us will feel a profound sense of truth during this statement.

Another powerful question that I once discovered, a matter that had me in deep contemplation for days was:

"Are your beliefs shaped by your experiences, or do you experience what you think?"

Simply take an instant to read that question again. I invite you to contemplate on it for just a flash.

Like most folks I've asked that question to, you may be thinking, 'Hmm... well, a bit of both really" and that's a very logical and accurate conclusion to come to.

However there is a very powerful idea value considering here. And it's a terribly fundamental concept on the study of human excellence call Neuro Linguistic Programming. And this is the idea of living one's life inside either a 'Cause or Impact' type of mindset.

We all understand folks who have a tendency to live a lot of at intervals one type of mindset than the opposite and their lives and who they're tend to be a reflection of this. I'm positive you know somebody than no matter what goes wrong in their life, they INVARIABLY have somebody or one thing to blame for it. 'If they hadn't done or said this or that then this wouldn't have happened to me' or 'it's their fault not mine'.

So you may be wondering, 'thus how will this all relate to beliefs and me quitting smoking'. Well, let me address both of these so as.

Firstly, if you go back and think concerning the powerful question on top of about beliefs that was: 'Are your beliefs formed by your experiences, or does one experience what you believe?' AND you think about what was simply said about 'Cause and Result', perhaps you'll be able to see a profound link here already? If your beliefs are only shaped by your experiences, then you simply might be living on the 'Effect' aspect of life. And here's the BIG factor to ask; WHY you believe you are still smoking?

Are these beliefs supporting you along your journey towards quitting or are you selecting to believe things that create it easy to justify your smoking habit?

For instance, honestly ask yourself if you have got ever been guilty of saying things to yourself like: It isn't the correct time, there's thus much going on right now, I do not have the will power, I've tried that and it didn't work, I understand somebody who tried that and it didn't work for them so it isn't going to figure for me, it's too expensive, my looking a stressful time right currently, my partner smokes so I couldn't probably quit, I'll wait til once x happens, I can't drink alcohol and NOT smoke, I'll quit when X, quitting isn't straightforward, etc etc.

Then ask yourself if it is a supportive belief putting you on the aspect of 'Cause' or if it's an unhelpful belief keeping you on the facet of 'Effect'.
